Very heavy, durable cups Sep 10, 2011
By Krisantia W. Ritzdorf I bought a set of these for camping and love them. They are durable and sturdy. I don't think they're good for toddlers who are learning to drink from a cup, though, because the weight might be too much for little hands to handle.

perfect step up from straw cups following sippy cups Jan 03, 2011

Ditched the sippy cups after teething, and went to straw cups. The best are the 1st years take & toss straw cups -- better than expensive ones by far. Around 3 years we needed to graduate from the polypropylene plastic straw cups and up to open cups. Just leaving the lid off the straw cups wasn't ideal for two reasons: one, the cups are semi-disposable and get rough after repeated use and washings; two, the PP straw cups are very light and not bottom weighted so they don't work well with an open top.
These melamine cups are perfectly durable -- better than polycarbonate which cracks and crazes (whether BPA is a concern or not) and better than PP which starts to get wooly, or the polyethylenes with phthalates.
They have more weight which helps keep them upright even when they're nearly empty. They would be better if there was more bottom weight as on a weighted glass tumbler but I have no suggestions on how to accomplish that.

By sun mountain girl I've purchase these in the past and they are great, unbreakable and one of the most used items in my kitchen. Love, love, love them.

Perfect for young kids Nov 18, 2011
By winstrel I bought these for my kids (4 yrs old and nearly 2 yrs old) six months ago and we've been very happy with them. I like these cups because they are sturdier and more solid than most kid cups you find in the store. In the past we've used light-weight plastic cups and had frequent spills. These have a nice solid feel and are weighted a little to the bottom, so that they don't knock over at the slightest touch. The colors are bright and fun. They've held up perfectly in the dishwasher (top rack). I would definitely buy them again!
