Cleaning TASSIMO Home Brewing System by Bosch Sep 11, 2010
By JaC My Bosch Tassimo machine was not functioning properly but no warning indicators were illuminated. It was not making complete cups of coffee without manually forcing it to continue. It was making noises I had never heard before such as loud squeaks while making coffee. Again there were no indications that it may need cleaning. No decalcification light. Since it was over a year old I decided it couldn't hurt to clean/decalcify it. After reading several favorable reviews for Urnex Dezcal and its compatibility with the Bosch machine, I decided to purchase it. One round of decalcification did the trick. No more noises and complete cups of coffee once again.

Works like a charm. Keurig B60 Mar 06, 2011
By BDMATT We live in Texas where there is very hard water. I had tried every trick possible to remove the build up: vinegar, lemon juice, etc. with no luck. The pump was making a horrible noise. After reading all of the reviews, I bought a box of these. WORKS LIKE A CHARM! One packet later my coffee tastes fresh, the machine is quiet, and it brews a full cup. It took about 3 tanks of water to rinse all of the Urex out (I tested by adding creamer to the water, if it balls up, them there is still some of the agent in the brewer). Overall, excellent product!

This product worked well on my Tassimo Single Cup coffee maker. I followed the directions. Only 1 packet needed. I recommend you run water through your coffee maker several times after using, to wash out the acidic smell....coffee tasted great after cleaning.Bosch TAS6515UC Tassimo Single-Serve Coffee Brewer, Twilight Titanium

Saved my Keurig Feb 03, 2011
By S. Gass I had always used vinegar to descale my Keurig Platinum coffee maker, but this time the vinegar was not doing the job. I was still only getting partial cups (about 1/3 of the cup). I came across a forum where someone had the same problem and recommended Dezcal. I used the product this morning and when brewing the 4th cup, it must have broke the scale loose because I got my first full cup of water. I finished several rinsing cycles, and my Keurig is like new again. I highly recommend this product!

Works well, easy to use for Senseo Oct 13, 2010
By Comdet I wanted to descale my Senseo machine, and the manual warned that I should not use vinegar (which is what I have used in the past for coffee machines). But, the Senseo brand descaler can't be found anywhere in the U.S. I emailed Philips support, and they suggested using this brand.
It's easy to use - just dissolve one pack in a liter of water, and run it through the machine. Philips recommends keeping a used coffee pod in place so it can capture any large chunks of scale and prevent the holder or frothing chamber from getting clogged up.
The material is citric acid, which you can also buy in bulk at a lower price. However, I couldn't find it locally, and prices online for small quantities came to about the same price as the Dezcal once shipping was factored in. The only way to get it cheaper was to buy a huge container, so I opted to get the Dezcal. The four ounces will last me a year (cleaning every 3 months) so it's not a bad deal.
Urnex also makes a product called Cleancaf which descales and cleans the machine. It's cheaper, but the Urnex website recommends Dezcal for pod type machines such as the Senseo. Supposedly it's a better product for just descaling.
