I ordered this scale to use at home with ebay. It's compact and really easy to use!!! The front is detactable so you can read it even when weighting an oversized package. Arrived amazingly fast...I think for the price, it's a great deal!!! Don't mess with the other similar models available on Amazon, you just found it!!

great product Jan 08, 2007
By A reader I bought this scale for weighing packages for shipping, but I've also found it extremely helpful in the kitchen. I love that it ranges from 0.1 oz to 55 lbs. An excellent product.

Perfect scale Nov 07, 2006
By W. McGonigle This scale is perfect for any applications I can think of. Staples didn't have anything close, and the price is a real baragin. We're using it to weigh a baby to monitor weight gain, so the low-range accuracy is important. We brought the baby home from the Dr's office and weighed him again within half an hour and this scale weighs the same as the Dr.'s scale. Especially useful for this application is the tare button, the hold-the-number-on-the-display button and the unit conversion button, so we can track weight in grams but easily tell family about pounds and ounces. This seller got a shipment of the black units in instead of the silver and sent that with a note offering exchange if the color wasn't satisfactory - I was glad to get the scale right away and must say the black color is probably the best one (see the rightmost picture above).

Good so far; AC adapter is "optional" Dec 13, 2007
By whatithink Make sure you know if you are getting the "optional" AC adapter or not, because the Product Description does not seem to tell you. I emailed Quick Supply but never heard from them. Then I clicked the "X# used & new available" link which showed me all the sellers; when you get there, click on "See all X# Featured Merchants offers" if on the bottom of this page to make sure everything is listed. Anyway, the "Comments" under each seller will tell you if the AC adapter is included. It seems to cost 2.50 more from PC_GURU (I paid 22 instead of 19). If someone got the cheaper one and still got the A/C adapter, please leave a comment.
Anyway, so far this thing is great (owned for 2 days). It is very accurate, exactly matching the weight I got at the post office (to the fractional oz), though I have not compared anything over 10 pounds yet. There is a bright blue backlight whenever something is being weighed which looks nice; there is a setting where you can turn this off if you want. There is also an auto-off setting that you can toggle. I haven't tried it on batteries yet. It comes with two accessories, one to hold envelopes and one to hold round objects. I don't see the need for the former, but the latter keeps things from rolling off the scale.
One reason I wanted to weigh at home is that by printing out your own prepaid USPS labels, you get Delivery Confirmation for free (save 75 cents). I guess after 40 packages or so, this thing will pay for itself :^)
I am still worried about how reliable this thing is over time, so I'll definitely update here if it breaks, and tell you how PC_GURU or the manufacturer was in dealing with the return.
UPDATE (after 4 days): If you are going to use batteries (4 C-size), turn the backlight option off, as it seems to affect the accuracy slightly and the scale has some trouble returning to zero. You really don't need it and I'm sure it is a big drain on the batteries. I'm talking just a fraction of an oz here (say 0.1 to 0.2 oz off for an object under 10oz). When I compared weighing plugged-in to batteries-w/o-backlight, it came out the same.

Affordable and great way to avoid post office lines Dec 20, 2006
By Angela Henderson I bought this to help with the onslaught of holiday package shipping. It's sturdy and does a great job for weighing absolutely everything. With this scale I was able to use the self-mailing websites of UPS and the USPS (Click N' Ship) and skip the long lines to mail things. For that alone this thing paid for itself. I also like that it can run on batteries! It doesn't give you the price of postage, but you can figure that out with the weights via those websites. They're always changing their prices anyway.
A great time saver, I will definitely continue to use this after the holidays for mailing things.
