Just what I have been looking for!!! Aug 20, 2005
By Kevin K. Fosler I have had the more well-known travel mugs, and thought that they were the best. Well, I was wrong. This travel mug is by far the best out there. It is truly leak-proof. My friends get tired of me turning it upside down (I guess I'm easily amused hehe), but I really do like a mug that won't spill if tipped over. When turned to the drink side, the liquid flows at about the right rate, not too fast, not too slow. Anyway, I can't say enough about this mug, and the price also beats the competition.

A stylish, leak-proof, but poorly insulated travel mug Oct 11, 2005
By Servio Medina The Trudeau is most excellent and the price via Amazon beats other easily. Thumbs up for style, form, and part of the function: being spill-proof. HOWEVER, I read somewhere that the "Double wall insulation provides 2 hours heat insulation". Not exactly certain what that means, but I presumed it meant "You can expect to enjoy hot coffee for up to two hours", i.e., after two hours the coffee would start to be noticeably cool.
Try 1 hour. At 2 hours, the coffee was pretty cool. And yes, I RTM and filled the mug with hot water for a few minutes before filling with coffee. No dice. I am kinda let down b/c of other containers that I have used with satisfaction:
-- I was given a Caribou Coffee "Stainless Steel Thermos" (you can find it from their web site) and was very content with it - it kept coffee hot for hours. Even four hours later (sometimes meetings in the morning get in the way), the coffee was piping hot. But, it was not a mug, per se. Ok, maybe it's not fair to compare a thermos with a mug. But I think it's fair to expect between 1-2 hours of pretty hot liquid from a travel mug.
-- I formerly used a Starbucks travel mug (some stainless steel thing with the widest mouth/body and slightly tapered base). Now this was a mug and it, too, kept the coffee hot for 2-3 hours. I mean hot.
So, the Trudeau is 2 out of 3 cool: looks and spill-free, but not really effective at insulating. At least, this has been my experience. And no, this is not meant to be a plug for either Caribou or Starbucks.

leaks like a sieve... Nov 09, 2007
By Mr. William A. Dispoto

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but unless I tighten this mug with a plumber's PIPE WRENCH, it leaks all down the front of my shirt EVERY TIME!!
I found the insulation adequate...but then again I drink my coffee FAST, so it doesn't have the chance to get cold.
Also, the base is too narrow for anything but cup holder usage...try using it on your desk and you're in for a sure spill if you so much as TAP the mug while it's full...

Doesn't work Jan 09, 2009
By Steven R. Pocock Looks great, just like the picture. Will not spill, drip or leak when closed. BUT, will not give up coffee when in open mode either. Actually it will dribble some out when you tip it way back, and then release a lot once you've got the thing tipped almost vertical, and then it sloshes on your upturned face. HOT! The only way to get the coffee is to take the top completely off. We'll be returning ours and hoping for a refund or replacement.
3/7/11 We did find an adjustment screw, as one reviewer mentioned. However, if you back it off from where they tightened it at the factory it won't stay put, either loosening further, or tightening itself down again. All in all, it's billed a TRAVEL MUG for Pete's sake! Adjustment screws? Really?

By N. Vanecko

I've used versions of these mugs and after awhyle I realized that my coffee tasted funny. i tried to use bleach and soaking and it never seemed to taste right. then i took the cap apart and holy crap there was mold and more coffee resin than i could beleave. its a great mug..... HOWEVER take apart the cap once a month or you will have mold and nastyness that will ruin the great tasteing beverage below.
