5Timers for reading class  Mar 16, 2006 By Teacher123
The timers work fine (it's been 3 months). I bought 8 for my reading class for timed readings. The beep is not too loud, at least it doesn't seem to distract the students. I like how it counts up and down, which most timers don't have. It's also great that it counts up to 99 minutes. The Pyrex timers only count up to 20 minutes. Definitely would recommend it.

5Timer used in school  Oct 08, 2005 By Mary C. Peters "reading teacher"
Great timer for all sorts of purposes. I am using this timer to obtain my students' reading rate as they read orally. It is easy to teach them the formula and how to use the timer to get there. I purchased this particular timer as it counts both up and down and it was at a decent price.

5Great Little Timer  Nov 02, 2007 By Skippypup "Pat"
I'm not sure why others have given this little timer such poor reviews. I have owned 3 of these timers and have liked each one. I'm now purchasing 2 more. I use one in my classroom, use one for baking at home and my daugher uses one for timing her homework, husband uses one for timing while he grills. There are so many uses and many, many times I've had more than one going at a time to time various foods that are cooking but need different timers (which is why I'm ordering more). I have NEVER had any problems with these timers and I've dropped them on the floor alot too. The magnet is strong and it doesn't spin on my frig. I love it's size since I can put it in my pocket while I'm doing other things and waiting for the timer to go off. Personally I like the fact that it resets itself to the previous time, this is very handy when grilling and a feature that my family uses constantly.

All in all this is a very nice little timer. Basic, easy to use, and holds up well.

1You get what you pay for.  Aug 10, 2007 By Michael H. Kaplan
I purchased three of these times to use in my office. Two died in one week. Cheaply constucted. Skip this one.

5For the price, nothing beats it  Oct 09, 2006 By Boogeyman
Ok, I've owned this timer for about 2 years now. My daughter dropped it, actually, let me rephrase that, THREW it on the floor numerous times from her highchair.

It's still ticking.

I'm not encouraging people to start dropping their timers, but this guy is not that fragile.

For the reviewer that says he has to press it past "99:59" to reset, one word: "Instructions"

I don't recall the clock feature stated, but there is a stopwatch feature. (hit the "start/stop" when the timer's reset). I used it to time how long it takes boil 4 cups of water (among other things), so I can use that time as a reference.

My one gripe is the small magnet in the back. Because the buttons are on the side, you have to use 2 hands to keep it from falling off. Kinda a pain when one had is dirty (My solution is to keep it on the edge, so I can use my thumb to press the button and 2 fingers on the back to keep it from falling).

All in all, a good $5 timer.
