if only Apr 10, 2009
By glouise This book would be the ultimate on finger sandwiches if only there were more pictures. Interesting recipes and interesting ideas. I wish I had this book last year when I made some finger sandwichs for a baby shower. My biggest complaint is the lack of pictures. Like desserts, finger sandwiches are a visual art when done well and it would have been nice to see pictures of the many ways they can be presented.

Variety and Good Instructions Jan 28, 2009
By J. Adams Kim Hendrikson's Finger Sandwiches ought to be the last word in tea-time treats, but I suspect it is only a continuing chapter. Having received a small book some years ago of British tea sandwich recipes, I was eager to see what the American version would feature--and should have suspected that it would not be limited to dainty watercress and cucumber sandwiches.
From Banana Morsels to Bacon Chutney, this book uses every imaginable ingredient. I would not personally have thought to use smoked salmon heart cut outs, but it will now be the centerpiece of my Valentine's Day offerings. Forget cookies--tarragon dill cream cheese and smoked salmon are the order of the day here!
The book is divided into both techniques and themes. Knife cut and cutout sandwiches are where many books leave off, but Hendrikson also handles rolled, pressed, open faced, stacked, sweet and kid-friendly sandwiches. She is very specific about which tools are needed for each task, and I found the directions extremely easy to follow. Mine were never as cute as the pictures, though, as it does take a certain finesse. Hendrikson also addresses that main complaint of finger sandwich makers--what do you do with the leftover bread?--that goes beyond mere croutons and breadcrumbs. With all the yummy pictures and the variety of sandwiches to choose from, this book would be a great gift for cooks, entertainers, and anyone looking to spruce up their sandwich offerings or entertainment plates.

Beautiful, creative and delicious May 20, 2009
By Diane Cossin What a wonderful book - full of ideas for interesting sandwich fillings and beautiful presentation techniques. Inspirational for a traditional English tea as well as a great source for everyday delicious treats. I love the "Little Bits" and "Other Bites" at the end of each recipe with ideas on how to modify the recipes for endless interesting possibilities. The author not only provides delicious, interesting and creative recipes but encourages creativity in the reader.
Beautiful presentation ideas. This is a book I will reference often!

In Tastefully Small Finger Sandwiches: Easy Party Sandwiches for All Occasions, famed caterer, Kim Hendrickson, writes in her introduction . . . variety, artful craftsmanship, delicious ingredients, and small size are the principals that inspired me to write this book.
Indeed! It is Hendrickson's easy to follow directions for garnishing, plating ideas, condiment-painting tips, sandwich bouquet designs, and tantalizing variety of 50+ recipes--spanning classic favorites, new originals, and innovative twists--that will be inspiring me.
Tastefully Small Finger Sandwiches: Easy Party Sandwiches for All Occasions, whether knife cut, cutter-shaped, open-faced, rolled, stacked, carved, pressed, sweet and/or kid-friendly . . . what a delight for formal entertaining, themed parties, family celebrations, neighborhood get-togethers, or an impromptu tea party for a friend in need of a pick-me-up--even if "said" friend is just me on a gloomy day!

sweet and salty delight Feb 15, 2009
By William Johnson I began using this unique food reference work with Curry Cashew Bites, one of the artful Knife-Cut Sandwich recipes. It's simplicity was generously rewarded by a rich balance of sweet and saltiness. As the author suggests, the recipes can be converted to standard size lunch sandwiches, too. In fact, the first time I tried this recipe, I enjoyed the sandwich even more a day or two later. I'm looking forward to alternating the nut and spice combinations provided in the convenient box inset.
The color illustrations are a big help with getting the visual presentation right.
With flair and imagination, TSFS proves that less is more!
