Best cookies ever! Jun 05, 2010
By cestlav As soon as I received this I made a batch of chocolate chip cookies, one on the silpat and one on a regular pan. The difference was amazing - they were the best cookies I ever made. Would definitely recommend. They recommend not rolling it up, so I store mine on top of the cookie sheet I use it with. I tried rolling it into a paper towel roll like someone suggested and I couldn't roll mine tight enough and didn't want to ruin it so I store it flat.

By Lillian37 Yesterday I used my new Silpat for the very first time and I'm in love. It is so easy to use and clean. The cookies browned evenly and slid right off. It kept my cookie sheet clean so that I didn't have to wash it afterwards. I love that you don't have to butter or oil the Silpat. I'm going to be buying several more of these!

By gs I do a lot of baking and was going through a huge amount of parchment paper. I kept seeing this product around and it took me a long time to get the courage to buy it. My thinking was - "its fiberglass or something like that, who cooks on fiberglass?" Short answer is me. I bought it and then it took me about 6 months to get the courage to use it. I was worried about what it would do to taste, cleaning it, storing it, pretty much everything.
I finally called the USA distributor who has clearly dealt with these issues before. Their customer service explained everything really well and got me over the fear hurdle very quickly. Now, this is one of my go to products. Use it all the time. Never gone above 450 deg even though its rated slightly higher
Answers to the questions were 1)Its not fibreglass 2)Doesnt affect taste at all 3)Heats up and cools very quickly so its like it is straight onto the baking sheet. I love that you can take it out of the oven and use it 30 seconds later because it has cooled down so quickly (have to use it on a cool sheet though) 4)Cleaning is a breeze. I do some egg washes and they wipe off. Customer service told me that even if the egg wash stains the mat, the mat still works 5)I dont use fats like oil on it. 6)Stores very easily 7)It has survived my daughters who while they are good cooks, are much tougher on all my cooking things than I am
