2do the math  Sep 21, 2007 By A. Thomas "athomas"
You might be comparing these white paper towels with the 30 rolls of Seventh Generation, brown paper towels also sold on Amazon wondering which is cheaper. Note that these are 70 sheets per roll. The brown ones are 120 sheets per roll.

White paper towels
$40.99/(30*70) = 1.9 cents per sheet.

Brown paper towels
$54.99/(30*120) = 1.5 cents per sheet.

So the brown ones are cheaper.

5Seventh Generation Paper Towels  Jul 24, 2006 By Alotta Errata "www.alottaerrata.wordpress.com"
While not as soft as your traditional papertowel, they are strong and can handle being wet, rung out, and scrubbed with. Since I generally use them for quick cleaning and not for wiping my face, softness isn't much of a concern.

4Thicker and stronger than the Natural, expensive  Oct 17, 2007 By Carol "kepela"
I tried both the bleached white and the brown natural versions of these towels and I BY FAR prefer the white; not because of the color, but because you get more for your money.
The white towels are not as soft feeling as your grocery store preferred brands. They actually feel rather rough; but they are quite strong and lint free. Both versions are the same size towel, about 1/3rd smaller than your standard papertowel. The brown version feels much thinner and is not nearly as strong. On both, the perforations are not cut very well and it's nearly impossible to tear off a single sheet. I can use the white towel and hang it on my kitchen faucet to dry and use it again; not so with the brown version.
I'd buy the white towel again, but I wouldn't buy the brown natural towel.

2Great idea in a not so great form.  Jul 30, 2008 By Sistertex
I really like 'green' products and use quite a few of them. And though I know I am saving trees, among other things, I can't help but wonder if I *really am* saving much of anything when I have to use 3 or 4 sheets of a product that I other wise would have to use one sheet of. It *still* takes energy to produce these paper towels and if I am having to use 3 times more of it over another product, then I have problems believing it is really accomplishing much as using more means more waste as well (not good for our earth either), not to mention the irritation factor.

I reach for these in a *quick need* situation and especially if my hands are already wet, I end up with only a piece of towel in my hand, where as if I use the 'regular' towels if I pull off a sheet, I get a sheet. This paper towel is not strong, or very absorbent. I would be more than happy to pay a little more if I felt I were actually helping the environment, but I just feel with using 3 times as much of a product to accomplish what one of something should accomplish is just not saving anything for anyone. I really *want* to be happy with these, but just not happening.

So thought I have to give it 5 stars for the green effort, I feel I have to give it 2 stars for *actual usability* of this product. The only thing these paper towels really has going for it is that it *is* a green product.

2Disappointment based on positive reviews  Dec 10, 2007 By Peggy "pab920"
I own the brown version of these paper towels and only use them to cover food in the microwave as they are not useful for anything else. I delayed buying the white ones for that reason. Then I read all the positive reviews that it was close to Bounty (brand I use and love) and much stronger than the brown.I can assure you this item is NOT even close to Bounty, but is moderately better than the brown version. After it is wet, it starts to decompose but not as readily as the brown version. After I use up this case, I will not purchase either the brown or white again. I do happily use this brand's toilet paper (except when guests come) and I love their lavender scented dish washing soap and laundry products.
