This multi-use product features a 1/3 Griddle with Lid and 2/3 Grill designed for the ultimate flexibility and convenience. When inclement weather keeps you inside, you can still grill using this indoor barbecue grill from SANYO. The grill features an adjustable temperature control with an indicator light, and its powerful 1300-watt heating element is built into the bottom of the grill surface for even heat distribution. The grill not only sears those tasty grill marks onto food, but its design also keeps food above and away from grease, fat, and other excess liquids for healthier cooking. The removable drip pan catches run-off fat, and by filling it first with water, it's easy to enjoy virtually smoke-free grilling. The unit's cool-touch handles and base provide added safety, and its nonstick surface and dishwasher-safe drip pan make for quick and easy cleanup. A bilingual instruction manual and a recipe guide are included. The grill measures 23-5/8 by 3-7/8 by 14-1/2 inches.

Like Barbequeing only better Jun 10, 2009
By J. Abbott I really like this grill. I found it to be particulary good for searing fish and really like the smoke free feature. I was a little skeptical of the smoke free feature however it really does do a good job of cooking with little-to-no smoke. I really found the griddle to be very useful as I love sauteed mushrooms on burgers and the griddle and grill together are quite conducive for this type of cooking. Having one place to grill and griddle is very handy for eggs and sausage or bacon for breakfast too. For someone who lives in an apartment wihout an outdoor area for barbequeing (like myself) this is a great alternative.

Great grill Oct 16, 2009
By bgarz I received this grill a few days ago and have used it twice. The first night I grilled porterhouse steaks and they came out beautifully. The nice feature of the grill is the temperature control; you can sear a steak at 400 degrees and then turn the temperature down. Really makes a difference; steaks were tender and juicy. Next I tried burgers. Came out great. Cooked them well done and they were still flavorful and juicy cooking at 325 degrees. I previously had a George Forman and this grill is far better. In my opinion the problem with the Forman is that everything is cooked very quickly at 400 degrees; meat was often dry because of this. This grill is not as fast as a Forman but it is definately worth the wait. I think I'm going to use this a lot.

They weren't kidding when they said "Extra Large" ! Feb 10, 2010

It's a little premature; I just got my grill today and I only used it once. BUT - I was so excited that I just couldn't wait to post my review.
When I opened the door for the UPS man I was surprised - the box was huge! I figured Amazon just over packaged it. When I opened the box, I was again surprised - the grill box was just as big as the outer box!
I wiped it off, set it up and started cooking right away. I cooked 5 hand-sized thin steaks at a time and steamed an entire bag of frozen veggies in the griddle part with the lid on. You can really fit a lot of food on it! It cooked evenly, didn't burn, and it's so nice that all the fat drips off to the "drip pan". It even put grill marks on the food!
Clean up was OK...the lid washed off nicely, as did the drip pan, but the grill was a little tricky. I didn't want to damage the heating element so it was kind of awkward because I scrubbed it with one hand and held it up on the counter at an angle towards the sink with the other. It would be comforting to know that the element was immersible like my electric skillet...but thanks to the size and even heating, as well as containing the mess to it's grill and drip pans, overall I am so far extremely satisfied with the product.

Extremely Satisfied May 19, 2010
By H. Slater I have owned several indoor grills. From George Foreman to Hamilton Beach. This Sanyo is far better than either of them. It's large grilling surface is great for my hubby and me. I love the griddle with the lid for steaming veggies, or frying onions to go with the steaks I'm grilling. Cleanup is easy but some care must be taken. The grill is not immersible so what I do is lean it on the side of the sink with plug side up. I love that the grill is non stick on both sides for easy cleanup. And adding water to the base pan makes it nearly smoke free. Little to none. The only negative, like I said, is that it's not totally immersible. I still rate it 5 stars for a superior indoor grill.
