3Rings adequate to the job- but beware!  Oct 10, 2007 By Richard P. Karasik
These rings fit on a 1" rolling pin and as well stretch to fit a 3" rolling pin (the ad claims up to 4"- but that would be stretching it a bit.) The stretchiness means that the bigger in diameter your rolling pin- the thinner the dough for a given set of rings.

These rings only produce accurate thickness results as stated in the ad if used on on a 1" diameter rolling pin.

The dimensions stated in the ad are Set of 4 pairs: 1/16" (red), 1/8" (yellow), 1/4" (green), and 3/8" (blue) thicknesses.

On anything over a 1" rolling pin, they produce uniform sheets of dough- but not at the thickness indicated on the bag. On my 3" rolling pin the yellow rings gave me a hair under 1/16" -not the 1/8" you might expect from the ad.

Luckily all i needed these for was "additional" thickness for my 3" pin which already had a couple of older rings on them (I stacked the rings).

I can now turn out a neat 3/32" cracker without too much problem.

Also seems a bit pricey for what are essentially large elastic bands- but then I couldn't find what I needed anywhere else!

5Got to know more than I did!  Jan 14, 2008 By D. Webster
I bought these rolling pin rings for my wife, and didn't realize that they aren't supposed to "stretch" to fit a variety of rolling pins. Now, I have to find a proper size rolling pin to match the rings, since (of course) they don't fit the rolling pins she already has. Murphy's Law.

3Not entirely uniform  Mar 13, 2010 By Sasha
Because of the inherent rubber-like composition of the rings, it's alarmingly easy to press a little too hard on the rolling pin and create a thinner dough. So unless you have perfectly malleable dough and perfectly even pressure, it's difficult to get a large sheet of dough of uniform thickness.

4Great for even thickness when rolling out doughs  Feb 23, 2010 By Amy Mcfarland "Mom of 2"
I have a 2" rolling pin, and these work fantastic. I've had no trouble with the bands slipping or turning out dough inconsistent with the measurements on the rings as a previous reviewer suggested. I love that you get a set of four different sizes in one bag, 1/16", 1/8", 1/4" and 3/8", to allow for all the different things I make with my rolling pin. These are especially great for thicker dough, like biscuits - without the rings I can never seem to get the thickness uniform across the sheet of dough.
I would not suggest using these on rolling pins thicker than 2", but otherwise these are a great addition to any kitchen.

1Rolling pin rings  Sep 14, 2010 By jfire28
I purchased these rings on the recommendation of Alton Brown, though they are a total "unitasker". Honestly, they don't hold up over time. I've never placed them in the dishwasher and I've had several of the rings crack over the past 6mos. They are extremely difficult to get onto my rolling pin & they don't do a very good job. It's actually easier to roll out dough to the desired thickness needed & measure using a ruler than use these pin rings. I do not recommend this product to anyone.
