This Removable Accu-Level (r) Propane Tank Gauge utilizes a very special yellow ink. When slightly heated, this ink will change color from yellow to orange. Upon cooling, it will change back to yellow, There is nothing that gets used up or wears out. Easy to Use: Attach this Propane Tank Gauge on the side of your 20lb tank. Pour a cup of hot water down the Propane Tank Gauge. Immediately the entire Gauge will turn orange. However within a few seconds, the lower portion will return to yellow. This returned yellow color is below the surface of your propane. The gauge holds this activated color for about 30 seconds.

Waste of money Aug 25, 2009
By CoopsCT This is a product that never should have seen the light of day nor graced the shelf of any hardware store. Because it's packaged folded up, there are permanent bends in the material that prevent the gauge from properly sticking to the tank. I tried to fix this by leaving the gauge under book piles for extended periods of time, but that didn't work.
The gauge requires one to pour very hot water over the gauge each time you need a reading. Because the gauge doesn't adhere flat to the tank, one needs to try to press it while pouring boiling water over it. Dangerous...and inconvenient!
When I did go through the trouble of pouring boiling water, the gauge was inaccurate.

Accu-Level Magnetic Propane Gauge Sep 23, 2010
By Beam Me Up Scotty Item comes out of the package bent (folded over). Won't lay flat against propane tank. Tried to gently unfold (instructions say to be careful bending product or it may be damaged). Product laid a little better against tank for awhile, but then began to bend away from tank at folds again. Won't work properly since it doesn't lay flat against tank. I think the product is fundamentally sound, but needs to be packaged differently.

Worst product I have ever purchased Jan 27, 2011
By ConfusedConsumer This is hands down the worst product I have ever purchased. Being an engineer, I usually can figure things out pretty quick. However, after fooling around with it for a while, there is no possible way this magnet will even attach to my tank. The tank is relatively new and I cleaned the surface before attempting to apply it, but not even a small part of the magnet would stay stuck. Even if it would, the way the strip is packaged it is so bent that there is no way it could accurately gauge the level of the propane. Please do everyone a favor and DO NOT BUY THIS!

Very simple principle, works just fine and stays on tank Apr 20, 2009
By G. Housknecht Very simple principle, works just fine. It simply indicates where the cold propane gas level is in the tank by application of very warm or hot water on the magnetic sensor. The magnet is there only to hold the indicator onto the tank - and it stays on tank quite nicely.

you bought a weak magnet. May 30, 2010
By E. Silhasek I purchased this last year and it has NEVER worked. At least I don't think it has.Maybe I'm missing something? It never indicates anything--even though I pour the hot water over it...even though I store it on my refrigerator to keep it flat. Buy a more expensive gauge...it's a better use of your money.
