So Close ... Jul 31, 2008
By SYK PROS:
The board is just the right size for everyday use and looks great. To sanitize, I use half a lemon or lime, dip into some salt and scrub the surface. Rinse with hot water and pat dry.
CONS:
Here's the bad news. You cannot see in the stock photo but the board has four very small pegs on each corner. These "grips" create a thin space between the board and the counter. Although the board does not slip, it causes the board to "bounce back" after each chop because it is not flush with the counter. I noticed it threw off my chopping "rhythm". Also, because of this gap - each chop is pretty loud.
* I have uploaded a macro shot of one of the corners.
I don't like to bother with returns so I've made this my back-up cutting board for when the family comes over to help prep a meal. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8/2011 TIPS Place the board on top of a wet paper towel and it will keep the board in place better. Also keeps the chops from getting too loud.
I also wanted to add a product recommendation based on feedback I received from this review. This is the cutting board we use on a daily basis. Oneida Cutting Board, 16-Inch, Green We found it as a local home goods for under ten dollars. It has rubber edges so it doesn't move around while chopping and if you choose to rest it against the back-splash, it stays put. I love the color. Even while prepping/chopping, the food looks great on top of these bright chopping boards.

Decent and inexpensive Feb 09, 2009
By mbrennan I thought I'd write a review because I've had this cutting board for about 2 years, so I can offer a little insight regarding wear and tear.
I use it probably 5 times per week and I'm afraid you're only going to get a couple years out of it.
During those two years, it worked great, but it's starting to warp downward in the center. This means it tends to pivot at the center and move around. This can be resolved by putting a washcloth or towel under it, but that's a nuisance.
Also, the whole center area is stained orange pretty badly. I think this is probably from things like slicing seasoned chicken breasts hundreds of times.
I have one other complaint and that is the grooves are a bit shallow. It's fine 95% of the time, but you are not going to be able to slice a big roast, carve a turkey or anything like that without juice spilling out all over the counter.
It sounds like I'm being mostly negative, so I'd like to counter that by saying it's one of the best I've ever used. Note that my complaints are pretty minor and mostly due to heavy usage over a long period of time. If you use any cutting board a lot, it is going to get beat up and you are going to have to replace it. Not a big deal, considering the price point.
Is it the best I've ever used? No, but the best one I ever had was also $[...] and also only lasted 2 or 3 years.
For the money, is it the best I've ever used? Yes.
Would I buy another one? Yes. In fact, I am buying another one right now to replace it.

Quality non-skid cutting board Oct 28, 2007
By Modern Blue Argonaut This is a quality non-skid cutting board that met all my expectations:
It fits into my dishwasher for easy cleanup It has a groove to prevent spillage onto my countertops It's non-skid It's large enough to cut just about anything The price is very affordable It doesn't dull my knives It doesn't harbor bacteria
Overall I am very pleased with this cutting board and would definately buy it again if I needed to.

This cutting board is OK Jun 04, 2007
By IAMSLICK It does what it's supposed to. The rubber edges have little non-slip feet, which is a definite improvement over our last cutting board, which slid around if you weren't careful. We have had this one for a couple of months and have run it thru the dish washer numerous times and it has held up well.
It has a channel around the sides on only 1 side of the board to keep juices from running off onto the counter top. This comes in handy when cutting a juicy piece of meat or a melon, etc.
I don't know if this is a good deal from a price perspective, but I think it is a step up from a plain square plastic cutting board.

I love this thing! Sep 24, 2007

This is just the right size to build a sandwich on or to slice a chicken. The gripper feet keep it from moving when you slice and the grooved edge catches the juices. When done, just stick it in the dishwasher in the plate rack and it comes out clean and sterile and ready to work again. Almost a year before I worried that deep grooves in the plastic might harbor germs.... Now, I'm back for a new one! This is a real work horse...
