The three pronged base provides stability equal to those with center posts, so instead of one central handle there are two ring style side handles. The side handles supports the basket's shape, rather than allowing it to open flat upon lifting. Capacity for more to steam. Segments fold inward for compact storage

A Little Too Big -- But Great Quality Apr 11, 2001
By Kevin Barrack This steamer insert is too large to use in smaller pots, so be sure to measure and make sure your pot is at least 7" wide on the inside. The feet won't scratch your pot, and removing the cooked vegetables is much easier without the center post common to cheaper steamers. With this one, I can just use a large spoon to scoop out the items, or if I want I can hoist the entire steamer out of the pan by grabbing the rings on the sides, but that's pretty tricky when it's fully of steaming veggies.

Simple to use with great results. Mar 14, 2002 I love this little gizzmo and I have had mine for years. I have tried other steamers but this one is simple to use and it adjust to any size pan (with in reason that is). All my friends now have one especially after they figured out what it was for. By the way it is real easy to clean and it stores away easily. And if your trying to save money, it costs very little. Get one. You will love it.

Slightly larger than expected Apr 20, 2007
By Terri The bottom of this steamer has an rim or lip that makes it the tiniest bit too large. I had another brand of steamer for years but it finally broke and I purchased this to replace it. This steamer is the slightest bit too large (becaue of that rim) to fit comfortably in either of the Revere pots I used the old steamer in. I can get it in the larger pot by tipping it but it is tight.

IT'S A WINNER! Jun 21, 2007

I really like this steamer. For starts, it is sturdy, no legs falling off, no center lifting hook becoming lopsided and unusable, as did a steamer I recently bought at my local grocery store and proceeded to toss out once I used this top-notch steamer.
It has two lifting hooks, one on each side, so it is easy to lift out at the end of steaming. It is solid and strong, and does a good job. Definitely a quality product!

Great little gadget........ Jun 07, 2007
By Miss Lou I never had used a steamer basket before I ordered this item. Used to ccok veggies in the microwave. I use the steamer in a large stir fry pan that is shaped like a wok, but has a flat bottom. It fits perfectly in the pan, and expands to accomodate a lot of veggies. I just put water in the bottom, cover the pan, and it steams perfectly. Goes in the dishwasher for cleanup. A most useful tool at a super price. Glad I didn't get the kind with the center post. This one is so easy to use! Sometimes simpler is better.
