awesome pan = awesome scones Oct 03, 2010
By NormaLeigh Lucid I debated between ordering this pan and a metal one, but chose the silicone because it doesn't need any extra oil and because it is so light (a bonus especially noticed when packing and moving). I tried it this morning, and the scones turned out great! The pan cooked them evenly and quickly, and the scones just popped right out even though I put the batter directly into the pan without cooking spray or butter. It was even easy to wash. I can't wait to try cornbread in it!
My only complaint was the lack of instructions (and I didn't think to look back at the product page on Amazon for tips until after I'd tried the pan). Left to figure it out on my own, I washed the pan by hand before using it, filled the cups all the way full (the scones rose above the pan but kept their nice triangle shape), and kept an eye on the scones in the oven so as not to overcook (based on the other reviews that said you can't count on the time recommended in recipes), and it worked perfectly. The pan is more sturdy than I was expecting; I didn't even need to put a cookie sheet under it and it held up fine from counter to oven and back to counter. All in all, a great product!
I tried the cranberry-orange scone recipe on Epicurious (delicious!!), which makes 8 scones if using a baking sheet. I used all the batter to fill the 16 cups in the silicone pan, and that worked great.

My first "real" scones! Apr 30, 2009

I make scones all the time but usually just use a cookie sheet. Well this has totally changed my scone-making powers. The slots are a bit smaller (maybe even half the size of scones you get at a coffee shop), which I actually like, and the silicone allows you to just pop them out with no problems. No sticking to the sides like in a metal pan. And easy to clean - I just threw it in the dishwasher! I'm very happy with my purchase.

Will need to adjust your recipes Apr 27, 2009
By priusapril This makes perfectly formed scones. My friends marveled "how'd you get them so perfectly shaped?" However, since the scones are packed in to this pan, it takes longer to cook. I've had to add about 10 minutes more than the recipes have called for.

Just as described May 11, 2010

It works just as described. Ive used it 4 times and no complaints. Its very nice having small scones because it helps you in over indulging with a large scone maker. The scones come out of the mold very easy and its holding up to the washing by hand.

i was skeptical of a silicone bakeware piece. this item put my mind to rest on that subject. it makes perfect "traditional" scones everytime. i even had a lady from Scotland over for traditional tea, and she fell in love with the pan :) LONG LIVE TEA TIME !
