Great coffee Sep 29, 2010

Coffee in Italy always tastes different, even coffee made at home. I could never produce the richness here, could never get that golden foam around the cup and coffee bars here weren't much better. I find that one local coffee bar makes espresso with regular American large grind coffee. It just doesn't work. Perhaps water or the altitdude have an effect too. Who knows? My aunt, who owned a bar in Italy, recommends buying coffee that said it was produced for bars; usually labeled "gusto bar". It was for this reason that I went to the Lavazza Bar brand and have never turned back. I have tried many others, even in the Lavazza line and this, so far, is the best. I know there are others who have given it a bad review, but I ask how they made their coffee. Was it in a drip pot or in an espresso coffee pot? Did they experiment with using more or fewer grounds? It takes a bit before you get the knack. You can't make espresso and expect it to taste right, or expect it to taste like real espresso, unless you use it in the pot it was intended for no matter what the label may say. It's ground to a certain consistency for a reason. This coffee is ground for espresso machines and for Italian coffee pots that are used on the stove. Will Lavazza Bar taste like what I have in my cousin's home Italy? No, but it's pretty darn close.

THE BEST! Sep 23, 2009

While in Italy on vacation, I fell in love with the Italian coffee. My fiance bought me a Bialetti Moka Express and sent me home with a four pack of some other brand of coffee. When I got home, I found Amazon had Lavazza, and as I had had mostly Crema Y Gusto while I was in Italy, I ordered that. I also decided to try any other varieties of Lavazza I could find. This was my fourth, and absolutely the best! This has no bitterness. It is rich like a smooth, dark, hot chocolate. I would recommend this coffee over ANY other Lavazza! I order 4 bricks a month through the subscribe & save, and as an Amazon Prime customer I pay no shipping cost and receive my coffee within two days - usually overnight!
You just can't lose with this coffee, and with Amazon!!

Best I've found for home Nov 27, 2008
By Michael Johnson I used to use Lavazza Rosa, but I ran into this simply because Rosa was out of stock at the time. And I'm I glad I did. Good stuff, just like at the Italian cousin's house.
The worst Lavazza I've Tried Dec 06, 2010
By Beach Girl I just received these a couple of days ago. The expiration is 2/11. As soon as I opened it smelled. It tasted bitter and rancid also. I made it in a moka pot.
Lousy Coffee Sep 18, 2010

Terrible. It's definitely NOT the same as Super Crema whole beans. Tastes totally different (with strong scidic after taste). Don't know why they say it is the ground version of Super Crema beans which are indeed super.
