Joyce Chen Burnished Bamboo tools are oven-roasted to bring out the beautiful honey color and will not swell, split, or absorb moisture. Bamboo is a grass - not wood - and an abundant renewable resource, so each time you use a bamboo kitchen tool, you may save the life of a beautiful tree. All of Joyce Chen's bamboo tools are hand shaped and finished. Bamboo is stronger than wood, dishwasher safe and will not scratch even your finest cookware. Good cooks everywhere will tell you that the proper accessories can make the difference between a cooking success and disaster. Joyce Chen opened her first restaurant in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1958. The restaurant flourished, and in 1973 a larger Cambridge restaurant was opened. Chen also began writing Chinese cookbooks and in the 1970s began hosting a cooking show on public television. She found that the selection and quality of Chinese cookware in America didn't live up to her high standards¿ so she developed her own. Today, Joyce Chen Products come from all over the Pacific Rim to bring the best of Asia to you.

4So Useful I Bought Two Sets  Jan 09, 2007 By Joshua Cohen "Cooking Since Childhood"
After two plus decades, I finally decided to replace my wood utensils. Though they had served me well, they were now cracked and splintering.

I was considering nylon or silicone utensils to replace them, but about the same time, I had purchased a bamboo cutting board and really loved it. So I checked out bamboo utensils and found these very nice and reasonably priced tools.

First, they are great with all types of cookware, whether traditional or nonstick. And the burnished bamboo surface is very tough. It doesn't mind high heat or the dishwasher.

I also like the bamboo container. It's small enough to place anywhere in the kitchen. I have on set by the stove and another on my prep table.

The only thing I wish it had was a deeper spoon or ladle for serving.

5sturdy and good looking  Feb 07, 2009 By E. S. Noyes "liza lives to read"
I bought this bamboo set after considering various silicone alternatives, which are A) a lot more expensive, and B) pretty unattractive. I think when beauty marries function, that's the ideal combo. Super practical, easy on the eyes. Joyce Chen offers a good variety of utensils -- two spatulas, a spoon, tongs -- just what you really need. And these wont scratch your non-stick or your stainless. And perhaps most important, you get the utensils plus the holder (I got mine on sale) for about what you'd pay for one silicon very non-green tool. The whole thing doesn't take up much room, so you can park the holder handily by the stove. I was pleased with the purchase.

4Great set for the price  Jan 31, 2008 By KSM "sane shopper--"
Most wood spoons are $5 each and this was a nice set for the price.
I have not owned this longer than a few weeks, but so far, I am happy with the set. the tongs are wood of course and seem stiff, I hope that they dont snap when I use them, but they seem well made. The actual container the utensils sit in reminds me of a barrel that wine is aged in, pretty rustic and skinny and simple, and I think nice for a small or simple kitchen. It seems tiny on my counter and I prefer a more substantial container, but even if I toss the container and just keep the utensils, it is a great buy!

5Stir fry Utensils  Sep 07, 2008 By Bill Chilcote "Northchil"
What can you say about a Bamboo Utensil Set other than these are as good a set as I have ever used.
I use these every day without any problems. The first thing I noticed when they arrived was the fact that unlike so many sets I have seen at the "Big Box Stores" these we sanded down without all the burrs and splinters you find in so many.
The holder is well made, handy and built heavy enough so as not to fall over easily. I also think the size of these tools are just right, the curve to the spatulas are a tight fit into the wok. These are obviously built by people who use these on a regular basis. BUY THESE YOU CAN'T GO WRONG, AND THE PRICE IS RIGHT!

5A great buy, and looks great  Jun 08, 2007 By J. Robinson "A Hopeless Romantic"
I have always use used cheap wooden spoons. I have tossed too many to remember.
But this set! WOW polished utensils in it's own container. It fits on the counter nicely. I usually put my kitchens tools away. But this one I can show off. I won't be tossing these. They're too pretty to throw away. I have to say already own the 3 piece set which lead me to buy the whole Utensil set. A great buy. A lovely gift. Joyce Chen Stirfry Set, 3 Piece
