well thought out design Feb 20, 2011

I couldn't find the size of this ring anywhere, so I gambled and got it. It measures about 3-5/16" in diameter, which is perfect for making your own Egg McMuffins at home. The silicone cleans easily and the egg handle works perfectly. Metal rings can scratch non-stick pans, and some rings don't have any handle, so you either have to burn your fingers picking it up, or use tongs.
Additional info (1/15/12): after a few washes through the dishwasher, the white plastic egg handle warped and broke off. I think this ring would be perfect if the handle was made from the same silicone material for two reasons: dissimilar materials often have problems, and such is the case because it warped and the glue didn't withstand the dishwasher. Second, the hard plastic egg handle got pretty hot to the touch and often was too tall for the pan lid (I put some water in the pan and put a lid on it to cook the egg more evenly, and give it a softer texture).
Despite this obvious flaw, I still think it's a very good product. It's the right size and as I mentioned earlier, the silicone doesn't scratch non-stick pans.

Love it- just gotta know the tricks to using it! Oct 19, 2011
By L. Peterson I use this for egg sandwiches at least once per week. I never have a leak out the bottom or get stuck to the edge.
Here's the trick: 1. Spray pam on the pan, warm up the pan 2. While the pan is warming up, spray the bottom and inner edges of the Joie Egg ring. Spraying the bottom will help to create a seal. Spraying the inside will help you pop the cooked egg out without any trouble 3. Place the Joie inside the pan 4. Once the pan is hot, crack egg inside. You want the egg to cook once it hits the surface of the pan so it doesn't run out the edges. 5. Turn the heat down, put a lid on. This will keep the egg from burning on the bottom but not take forever to cook. 6. Depending on how done you like the yolk, cook for 3-7 minutes. 6a. If you like the yolk well done, then after 5/7 minutes slip the ring off of the egg, and flip the egg. I don't do this...but it will make the yolk very hard. 7. Enjoy!
I throw it in the dishwasher (top rack) after each use.

"Just Like McDonalds" Feb 08, 2011
By BeachBumBob I just bought this item and it works like a charm. I it was hard choosing here on amazon for this type of product as they show many.
I decided to buy this one as it looked the right size I wanted along with it being silicone for easy release of the cooked egg as I had a metal one in the past and even with Pam spray it seem to still stick to the egg making more of a mess.
I also notice on Youtube or in comments on cooking eggs like McDonald's do. As I found out, people were doing it all wrong. You don't fry the egg, you poach it! I always wonder why in the past it just didn't look the same as at McDonald's, now I know why.
(see this mcdonald's "How To" training video I found on Youtube)
[...]
With my Joie silicone egg ring, I used a kitchen pot lid that I was able to put some water into to poach the egg (for approx 3 to 4 mins) as this was enough time to cook the gelitain part of the egg that seems to take forever if you don't cover it and burns the bottom of your egg.
Another thing that is nice about this product is that I can fold it away with easy an not take up kitchen drawer space, something you can't do with a metal ring, so that was another plus.
Anyway, Happy Egg McMuffin Making!
Don't forget to watch the video to correctly cook an egg mcmuffin

Love them!! Jul 13, 2011
By Rex Ragan I ordered these to replace my old metal ones, which were beginning to rust and lose their non-stick coating. I got two of the round ones for McMuffins and one of the bread-shaped ones for making other types of fried egg sandwiches. The silicone material is great. You don't have to worry about scratching your non-stick pans. It also creates a much better seal with the pan, so the egg doesn't seep out under the bottom edges the way it often does with metal rings, keeping a more perfect shape. They also release very easily. Just lift up on the handle and the egg stays in the pan, ready to be flipped to cook the other side. With my metal ones, I always had to run a knife around them, even when I used cooking spray. Cleanup is also a breeze. They rinse easily by hand, or can also go in the dishwasher. A little pricier than other similar products, but well worth it!!

Egg Ring Jun 10, 2011
By C. Kramer I LOVE them! :) I've never had such fun making eggs before. There is an extremely small amount that leaks out from the bottom, but I've noticed that when I lay them in the pan on top of a bit of olive oil it helps to seal them better. Love it....thanks.
