Ginger is a fibrous root and Helen's Asian Kitchen's ginger grater, with its porcelain teeth, is especially designed to extract the delicious spicy pulp from fresh ginger without the tough, stringy fibers. Simply peel the ginger root and rub the ginger in a circular motion over the rows of teeth. The handy sauce well collects the ginger pulp and juice for easy removal. A specially-designed bamboo brush is included to help dislodge and clean any particles from the grater's teeth. The ginger grater allows you to quickly and easily grate ginger for stir fry, marinades, dipping sauces, salad dressings, desserts and more.

A Helen's Asian kitchen porcelain ginger grater review Dec 26, 2008
By L. T. Beasimer

I used a simple bamboo ginger grater for years, but the teeth started breaking off regularly. When trying to find a replacement, I couldn't find the bamboo type anywhere. I searched on Amazon and came across this grater.
In concept, you simply grate the ginger over the teeth and use the brush to collect the gratings. Any juices are captured in the well too. This seems simple enough in concept, so I decided to give it a try.
I put this grater to the test the evening it arrived in the mail. I prepared my ginger and began grating. The teeth do a great job on the ginger, and the juice collected in the well. Then I use the brush to collect the ginger gratings. It seems the bamboo brush is this products main weakness, as it doesn't work. When the ginger stuck to my old grater, I would give it a few taps on the cutting board and be done with it. This grater being porcelain, I tried doing the same lightly but feared it will break. I collected what ginger I could, and washed out the rest.
This product does an excellent job of grating ginger, and is easy to clean up. However the included bamboo brush is useless. Without being able to reasonably collect the grated ginger, this product doesn't make the cut. I have since replaced it with a ginger grater from Williams Sonoma.
PROS: Grates ginger with ease Includes a well to capture juices Easy to clean
CONS: Ginger gets stuck in the teeth
Very didappointing Jun 05, 2011
By Norman King Tong I havd a Kyocera and am very pleased with it. I needed to buy another grater as a gift. I thought this one was a better deal. Big mistake! The teeth are too high and trap most of the grated ginger inside. The bamboo brush that comes with it is absolutely useless. Don't waste your money on this. Spend a little more and buy a Kyocera instead.

This makes grating ginger a breeze, and it catches the juice so nothing gets wasted..The little brush helps get all the pieces, too. Nice size and weight, it isn't flimsy. Glad I bought it, my stir-frys are extra good.

Helen's Asian Kitchen Porcelain Ginger Grater Mar 05, 2009
By Nataly The quality of this grater disappointed me: some teeth were broken already. When I was looking for a greater, I thought that a porcelain greater can last for a long time, being sharp and color-resistant. I wish something more durable. Had to return it back to Amazon. Do not waste your money.

Not the Best Ginger Grater Apr 10, 2012

I do not recommend this ginger grater. It may grate the ginger well but the ginger gets stuck between the pointy teeth of the grater and it's hard to get it out. Consider other products.
