How did I steam without this? Jan 09, 2009
By 77Mini I absolutely love using this for plates being removed from the steamer. Works much better than I had expected. And inexpensive too.

Gets the job done without burning your fingers Nov 20, 2008

This is a really handy gadget for getting hot plates out of the steamer basket. Highly recommend it.
Does the job I guess May 20, 2012
By Li The product description says stainless steel, however the finish on the two tongs I bought had lots of rough little black marks all over. The finger/thumb holds are too close together because of the way they're angled, so it's a bit awkward to open the tongs with the one hand (even for me and I have small fingers lol!). The tongs are only 19cm in length so be careful when the hot steam comes out at you. On a good note, it does the job, its pretty sturdy even with heavy ceramic plates and I've had no plate slippage either.
A great helper! Aug 14, 2011

It works, but the material is very cheap. Jan 09, 2009
By zry The package says "High-quality" 18/8 stainless steel. I am glad those words did not make it to the product description on Amazon. It does not look high quality at all. Rather, it looks like an item you pick out of the dollar-store.
It works. It takes some practice to do it quickly, which is important when your hand is directly in the hot steam.
Overall a useful gadget. I just hope it doesn't start rusting too soon.
