The 14 inch Excalibur Non-Stick Wok with helper handle and high-dome, see-through, tempered-glass lid is a heavy weight at 2mm thickness of carbon steel. It is made for use on gas or electric burners and the pan's heavy weight carbon steel body is designed for rapid, even heating and cooling ¿ a must for any stir-fry. Its generous size will enable you to make delicious Asian meals for your entire family. This pan is perfect for creating such authentic Asian-style recipes as curried shrimp with lemon rice and Szechwan beef stir-fry. This pan features a Stay-cool Bakelite® handle and the flat bottom sits securely on stove tops. Excalibur® is a premium non-stick coating that is far superior to most nonsticks in the market. Its strength and long lasting durability is so important for the high - heat demands of stir fry cooking. The pan is first prepared by blasting it with an abrasive material to create a roughened surface. Then, white-hot molten stainless steel is applied to the surface and, when cooled, becomes welded to the pan. The permanent peaks and valleys that are formed provide a strong, tough base for two coats of a high-grade nonstick finish. This set comes boxed with the wok, tempered glass lid and Helen Chen recipe booklet.

Must Have Cookware Jan 17, 2010
By Kenneth R. Kluge Incredible piece of cookware. Every kitchen must have one. Very universal. You can cook anything in this pan. heavy construction. Retains the heat very well. Nothing sticks! (Not even sticky general Tsao's sauce.) Easy clean-up. I looked at alot of different woks' before I found this one. Great value!

Didn't live up to expectations. Feb 24, 2011
By Craig Olson After spending a great deal of time reading reviews on woks I decided on the Helen Chen's Asian Kitchen Excalibur Nonstick 14-Inch Lidded Wok. It seemed the best for a very reasonable price and it received glowing reviews on Amazon.
Boy was I wrong.
Out of the box it looked good, seemed sturdy and had good weight. The non-stick surface worked excellent. Nothing sticks at all. However, on the first use the coating pealed away from the outside bottom. Most likely because even under moderate heat the pan warps into an outward bubbled bottom. This bulging bottom causes it to wobble to-and-fro and makes it impossible to transfer heat. The heat distribution is so poor that there is only a small portion of the pan bottom that gives you that sizzle you expect from a wok. The sides remain so cool that the pan is easily picked up from the rim while in use.
I used it once and retired it to the storage area destined for a garage sale. Don't waste your money on this one.

Good wok, bad lid Jan 11, 2012
By Y. Wang This only problem with this wok is the poor quality lid, but it's a major flaw. The knob on top of the lid is fixed in place by a long screw that comes in from the bottom. However, the plastic of the knob is too weak to hold the screw in place, so the knob isn't firmly fixed on the glass lid (i.e., turning the screw will never tighten to the point where you can't turn it anymore). Since the rest of the lid is heavy glass, the knob came off several times and I ended up throwing out the lid because it was a heavy piece of glass just waiting to shatter on the ground. But I haven't had any problems with the wok itself after a month of using it.
