HIC's chrome plated broiler rack allows one to roast their poultry or meat without touching the bottom of the pan. This is critical to roasting as this type of cooking refers to dry heat. Without using a roast pan, the poultry or meat would boil in its own juices. Using a roasting rack is also a healthy way to prepare roasts as it allows the fat to drip off the poultry and meat and rest under the rack. Functional and sturdy Sep 07, 2009
By Warren J. Dew I bought this product to use as a roasting rack in a standard size pan that was about 9"x12.5". The rack fits perfectly, and the legs are the ideal height to keep the roast out of the drippings. The rack itself is made of sturdy chromed wire.

Excellent and versatile broiler rack, made of quality materials with obvious skill, and very easy to clean. This rack has made baking or broiling chicken, steaks, and chops easy and convenient. It is especially pleasing to discover it fits well on a aluminum foil covered cookie sheet of standard size and is yet large enough to prepare three chicken breasts easily. Ideal cooking aid for a couple, perhaps too small for a family of more than two. However, overall this is absolutely a truly fine rack and if purchased will be certainly not regreted.

By RP This was a great find - The broiler rack is durable and has withstood our broiler fantasticly! I only wish it came a little bit bigger with the same ratio (lxw) When you don't have a BBQ this is the next best way to grill meat/chicken!

To give a little more information than is on the Amazon site, this rack is reversible, so that there is a choice between 3/8 and 1/2 inches for the height the roast is raised above the bottom of the pan. Also, I e-mailed the company to answer a couple of questions and was told that this product can go up to 572 degrees F (300 degrees C) in the oven no more, and it is oven safe and dishwasher safe. In a second e-mail to the company on May 2, I learned that the rack is made of chrome, and the company is saying that it will not rust.

By Happy Daughter I bought this rack for mainly one thing, baking chicken wings without removing the coating. I don't fry my food, so I do what I call a 'bake fry'. I have had problems in the past using foil or parchment with the flour coating on the chicken rubbing off. Well, even using this rack a bit sticks to the rack, but it is very small when compared to using a flat surface. The size of the rack is made for a 9x12 pan, but it can put on top of any size sheet without it sliding too much. This purchase was a great one for me.
