If you have a cupcake that has a lot of frosting on top (such as one decorated by your child) then you may find these are not big enough.
However, these are sturdy, well built and totally fun. They lock tight so there is not chance of one accidentaly popping open and smearing frosting all over the place. Inside there are these plastic 'prongs' that stick out and sort of hold your cupcake in place so it doesn't rock and roll inside the holder and get frosting all over on the inside of the holder.
This is a super simple device that is well made and well designed. Enjoy.

By still cold The holder was made well, looked good but would only hold one of the very small cup cakes that maybe a small child would need.

By Michele I got one of these to transport and store a cupcake in my son's school freezer in case he needs a allergy safe treat to eat with his classmates. My homemade cupcakes fit fine, but are squeezed just a bit by the prongs, but that keeps them from flipping. They keep well and hold them so the frosting stays as intact as possible. I'm going to get a few more to have on hand for lunches of other functions. They stay closed, but are easy enough for him to open.

By Noname This cupcake holder works really well to keep cupcakes from becoming a smushed mess inside a lunchbox. The only problem is it takes up a lot of room and it only holds one standard size cupcake. If that cupcake has frosting piled high, some of that frosting must go. We don't use it much but it comes in handy.

I love that they're designed to keep the frosting in tact and they're so convenient to pack a sweet treat for loved ones without it getting smashed, and keeping it fresh as well.
