Love this mat! May 05, 2010
By Jaime M. Vega After having a Tupperware pie mat for years, I finally had to invest in a new one because a friend melted it. I tried a fondant rolling mat, which was all i could find at the time and was sorely disappointed, as it was really thin and the edges always rolled up on me.
Finally i found this one online and since then I've ordered a 2nd one. It's fantastic--easy to roll out and easy to clean and bc it's thick, the edge don't curl!

By Rebecca P. Mcclain I purchased this mat because I have tiled counter tops, and rolling or kneading dough leaves the grout impossible to clean. This mat is extremely sturdy and much thicker than some of the other mats this size. It is thick enough to lay flat, but flexible enough to be rolled back into the tube for storage. I have no problem with the edges curling or needing to be weighed down. The mat does slip around, but if you wet the back of it evenly with a moist paper towel it stays right in place, even when vigorously kneading dough on it.I am extremely happy with this mat, it is going to be a life saver during the holiday baking season.

Used it for Thanksgiving pie baking and it was wonderful; pie crust dough didn't stick to it, the measurements were accurate, clean up and storage is really easy. It can't be put in the dishwasher but that's not a big deal to me. The best mat I've seen for the price.

I bought this mat to do fondant work on, since silicone mats of large size tend to be, well, unaffordable for novice/home cake making. So, I figured with all the good reviews on how well pastry doesn't seem to stick, and for the price, I figured I'd give it a try. The other reviewers were correct: The company rolls their mats up in a tube, in the *correct* way, so that it does not curl up in to your work. Within minutes, the edges were literally uncurling themselves, and as I began work, the whole mat flattened out quickly, and stayed that way. I was very happy about that :) As far as non-stick... well, I've never worked with a silicone mat made for fondant, but my fondant did not stick at all. I mean, there's the "suction" of it being rolled out on a flat surface, but beyond that? Super easy release and clean lift off every time. Covering a 10" round was much easier than I thought it would be, and this mat is the main reason why. I did not use any powders or shortening for release.. just a clean mat.
You do have to hand clean this mat, but that's super easy. I doubt it would fit in a dishwasher anyway. A little soapy water on a sponge, wipe up, dry with a towel, and done. Nothing sticks.
However.. the reason I knocked it one from perfect is the scratch factor. Do *not* use knives on this thing in any way or shape. I did use a pizza cutter to cut some fondant (very carefully) and it did okay, but I have two small but decent scratches from a spatula I used to get a delicate fondant flower up. Be very careful using metal utensils on this mat.
So, if you are on a budget, and are looking to get a mat big enough to roll out fondant to cover a 10" round cake, this would do you just fine. Just watch your sharp and metal tools.

By Elizabeth Arguello I've never purchased a pastry mat before, but knew what I wanted and needed. I order this strickly because of the reviews from other customers. It is AWESOME. I wiped down the counter with a damp cloth, put the mat down and pressed it. It never moved. I even tried to slide it around and it wouldn't. I rolled out over 5 dozen cookies and it stayed with out a problem. When it's ready to come up, no problem either. It rolled right up to store in it's tube, but it didn't try to roll up when I was cutting cookies. I HIGHLY recommend this mat for beginners all the way to experts.
