On my 3rd complete replacement set after 18 months Apr 18, 2004

I don't know what it is about this product, but it just does not hold up at all. Actually, I do know what it is: cheaply made. When it works, it works great. There is nothing like having fresh water at the tap without having to refill a pitcher every day. But it won't take long for you to realize that this device isn't made for the long term. Within months of owning small leaks start to occur around the device. Shortly after those appear, the leaks worsen and will actually run into the water you are wanting to filter. After spending over $100 on 3 replacements and how ever many replacement filters, I have learned my lesson the hard way on this product. You really do get what you pay for in this product.

Poor construction Jan 20, 2004

The plastic connector to the faucet is weak. It lost tightness within 3 months and started leaking. When I tried to tighten it, the internal plastic connector broke completely. Turns out there are only 2 small pieces of plastic connecting the two. Very bad engineering. Try something else.

Like sands through the hourglass Feb 23, 2003
By Shawn Kresal I'm convenience-oriented. Having upgraded from the Brita pitcher, to the multi-gallon unit, and then getting the Faucet Filter I was excited for an improved Brita medium. Finally! No more soaking the filters, washing the container, refilling the container. Xanadu had arrived. The Faucet Filter worked superbly for 3 weeks, and then without warning its flow rate dropped to 1/10th the speed of a meandering trickle in January going uphill with a wind in its face. And yet the little green blinker indicated everything was a-ok. What I call the "Automated Water Filter Useless Light", or AWFUL, showed thumbs-up. So I timed it, because I am a [curious person] who does things like quantify product dissatisfaction. From the 2-gallon Brita UltraMax dispenser it took 32 seconds of joy to fill a 1 quart container to the brim. Yet, the same size jug from the faucet Brita took 2 minutes, 3 seconds. When you watch a tablespoon or cup of water drip to completeness it is as if your life is wasting before your eyes. Using this product is not unlike being stuck in gridlock, only less pleasurable.

not this one......... Dec 04, 2003
By D. Leary leaked like a river and lame plastic threads stripped out immediately. The PUR Ulitmate works perfectly first time. I'd recommend getting that instead.

Review - Just Got It Jun 06, 2004
By jeff I just bought this yesterday and so far no complaints. I actually paid more because I got mine at Bed,Bath & Beyond and it included a pitcher which definitely was not worth the extra ten dollars but with their discounts and a store credit it was worth it. Plus if I hate it in 2 weeks I'll bring it right back to the store - they take back anything. So installation was a breeze. Water flow is ok considering it is going through the filter. No leaks. Non filtered spray is good too. The only complaint is that I cant use one of those flexible spray attachments so the position of the spray is fixed. I am curious if I will agree with the other reviews after a few weeks that say "no" to this product. I promise to come back (end of June) and write an update
Update: June 22 (Purchased 6/6) So far I have not experienced any problems and I'm pretty happy with it. My only concern is if this filter will last at least 3 months making it more cost effective than bottled water.
Update: Sep. 11 Ok, so I recently replaced the filter. The red light had not gone but I figured it might have accidentally got reset. I live alone and it lasted about 3 months - maybe I could have kept it on a little longer though after putting on a new filter you realize how much the water flow diminishes over the life of the filter. I guess this can be expected as the filter does its job and fills up with junk. I do like it better than using the filter-pitchers and I will continue using it. This will be my last update as I feel my review was prettry comprehensive.
Update: Just replaced, Dec. 31st. The red light came on indicating I had about 20 gallons left but filtration was slow. It lasted me (1 person) 3 and a half months this time. I think bigger under sink filters are probaby better but this one does the job if you rent and dont want to mess with the plumbing.
