NiCad AA 1.2 volt non replaceable batteries Aug 20, 2009
By Grenlock
"Grenlock"
The one bit of very important information that is not stated anywhere (in the description OR in the reviews here, until this one) is that this is no different than any other 2-AA battery powered frother. It simply has 2 PERMANENTLY MOUNTED (non user replaceable) nickel cadmium 1.2 volt 600 ma AA batteries inside of it.
This means that if you store it on the counter in the charger after every use, it will quickly develop the dreaded "memory effect" of nickel cadmium batteries (i.e., if you use it for only one minute at a time before recharging it, the batteries begin to "think" that they only have enough power for one minute).
Since these batteries aren't user replaceable, the item quickly becomes JUNK.
You could get the exact same thing by purchasing a standard 2-AA battery powered frother, then using NiCad AA batteries in it. A better option would be to use nickel metal hydride AA batteries, as those would run at 1.3 volts, and not suffer from a memory effect. They would also hold more power, as 600 ma in an AA is a VERY low standard nowadays. (Most NiMH AA batteries are available at 1800 ma at the lowest and go up to 2900 ma.)
Better yet is to just use a regular 2-AA battery powered frother with regular alkaline 1.5 volt batteries in it, as that will give you the best performance AND have user replaceable batteries. (You could even use lithium AA if you wanted something stronger still.)
Avoid this garbage item.

Best Frother EVER! May 01, 2009
By EJA I owned a battery operated Bon Jour frother for 4 years...it worked great but quit working last week. I missed the frother so much that I had to get another one...so when I looked to order it, I found this rechargeable one and decided to give it a try in spite of a few bad reviews. This frother is MUCH faster than the battery operated one, and much sturdier also. I believe the reason a few reviewers have had problems keeping a charge on this gadget is this: you must do an INITIAL charge of 16 hours and THEN keep the charger stand UNPLUGGED if you keep/store the frother in the stand. The instructions explain that if you continue to discharge the battery in small uses (as one would with normal daily use) and then put it directly back onto the charger while plugged in, the frother will no longer hold a long charge. This battery needs to be almost entirely DISCHARED before you RECHARGE it. The instructions for charging plainly state: "The life of rechargeable batteries can be impaired if the appliance is plugged in for over 24 hours." "Premature charging damages the batteries. Only recharge batteries if the appliance is noticeably reduced or if the appliance has not been used in 3 months." When all else fails, read the instructions!

Fantastic Frother that is used Daily! Mar 07, 2007
By Kaniram L M

This is a very useful rechargeable compact frother machine. It takes up little space and is always ready to be used for making perfect froth.
The froth that I make with ff milk (skim) even doubles as a whipped topping on ff puddings. I am saving a lot of money making my own daily Lattes. In fact the money I saved from going out and purchasing from Starbucks paid for the Frother already and I just got the machine a few weeks ago. I really use it several times a day!
I never had problems with it recharging as one customer stated on this review page; perhaps it has been improved since theirs was purchased.
I would truly recommend this item to anyone wanting to make their own frothed drinks. The Rechargeable Primo Frother gets my FIVE STAR RATING!

Disappointed Nov 29, 2007
By Macgreiner After reading all the reviews on this product, I thought it was a safe buy. . . . I should have listened to kogepan! After following the instruction to leave this puppy on charge for 16 hours before first using it, I have had a total of about 35 seconds of use before the battery runs flat. This is going back for a refund.

Best Frother Jan 11, 2007
By 02138 Shopper Frothed milk without the watering down inevitable with steaming! Plus, an ingenious recharging system that bypasses ever needing batteries. A must buy for capuccino aficionados.
