It All Depends on the Coffee Grounds! Dec 31, 2007
By Autism Mom I have both the manual Bialetti Mukka Express and the electric Bialetti Mukka Express. I had no problems with the manual model even using soy milk. I happened to come across a new electric model at BBB marked down to $44 and couldn't pass it up. I have made cappuccino with the electric using coffee that I ground myself using the "finest" setting on the coffee mill. The cappuccino came out perfect every time whether using soy milk or regular milk. I decided to buy pre-ground Starbucks Expresso Roast instead of grinding the beans myself. I noticed immediately that their coffee is not ground as fine as what I normally do myself. Well, the cappuccino was awful. It did not foam at all and not all of the coffee came up from the bottom. I re-ground the Starbucks Expresso coffee through my coffee mill to the finest ground. Guess what! It works now! Make sure you use the finest grounds possible to get this machine to work properly! This probably holds true for the manual machine as well.

Forget it! this thing is a hassel Feb 23, 2008
By Sung Yeh Lu I read so much review and waited soo long until i see the electric mukka express and I went on and bought it. I thought if the stove top reviewer had soo much spill over milk problem, the already timed electric one should be a much improved version. after I tried for the first time the froth foam was not thick nor creamy, I figure I should try it a couple more times, the milk went from little bit of foam to zero foam. each time I had to wait soo long to make the second cup because the entire bottom(black) part become super hot and I couldn't unscrew it until it cools down. then the disaster just kept on going, 1 out of the 5 time, the coffe spilled and leak on the counter, other 4 times was just a heated coffee with no foams. cleaning this machine was very annoy. it is hard to clean and reach some parts inside. and you have no choice but to wait till it cools down to holdable temperature to wash it. I shouldn't have believed that this machine will work for me and thought that the other unlucky ones who probably didn't know how to read manuals. Now I know how they feel and this machine is a flaw. I end up with Bonjour milk froth pump it work wondouerful, If you already returned this machine, try bounjour!

perfect for coffee lover Sep 10, 2011
By Inhee Lee I love this machine alot!! it's not easy to use for the first time user, but after you read the instruction thoroughly, try to follow the procesure step by step, it definitely work! And the taste is great. I use illy moka coffee, and it tastes equal or better than starbucks. There are few miner things i don't like though. the compartments are not really sturdy and fits perfectly each other. for example, the pressure valve is a little loose when i put it in locked position. It may suppose to be like that. Also, a little water leakage from the attached part from heater and upper part. But i don't think these are defects.
Overall, I love it, and I want to give the grade 4stars and a half.
