If your coffee maker produces bitter tasting coffee or has slow brewing problems, try using BetterBrew to clean your coffeemaker's system. Better Brew safely dissolves limescale build-up that can slow brewing time and make coffee taste bitter. The BetterBrew formula contains a special blend of Citric Acid (lemon juice) which quickly dissolves unseen limescale build-up that slows brewing time, lowers water temperature and causes bitter coffee flavor. Better Brew contains no harsh chemicals and is safe for you and the environment. To use, dissolve contents of one package of BetterBrew in two cups (16 oz.) of water. Pour into the water tank, put empty pot and filter basket in place, and run the coffeemaker until half of the solution has flowed into the pot. Disconnect and let stand for 10 minutes. Turn on and run until the rest of the solution has flowed into the pot. Rinse by cycling clean water through two or three times. Use Better Brew after every 25 brewing cycles or sooner if brewing time slows.

Quick, easy, no vinegar smell! Jul 21, 2008
By P. Brodersen I've used this product three times over the past year to clean my Krupps coffee maker, and each time I am pleased with how quickly and easily it does the job - and no vinegar smell to rinse out.
The product comes in a plastic envelope with three portions of the mainly citrus-smelling powder. It is easily dissolved in 2 cups of cold water, run 1/2 through a cycle, turn off and sit 10 minutes, then complete.
I usually let the coffee maker cool then run it through again. 2 or 3 clean water cycles removes any citrus (lemon) lingering scent, and you're good to go.
The pricing is not bad, but the shipping from the third party is as much as the product! I may try to find another source.

Does what it says, no vinegary smell Apr 22, 2011
By Simon D. Hucko Our coffee maker was running very slow. Everyone suggested vinegar, but all it did was stink up the house. This stuff did the trick. Easy to use, no smell, works great. A must for cleaning slow coffee pots.
Works great! Apr 19, 2012
By ludes@mninter.net My coffee maker would stop about 6 times while making a pot due to build up. I ran 2 packets through (1 at a time), and it works great now. I have made 10-15 pots since, and it hasn't stopped once. I wish it was this easy to get rid of hard water deposit issues with other things.
Works loads better than vinegar, no smell, eco-friendly Feb 14, 2012
By Neonsky These work really well to clean your coffee maker or other items that may have collected hard water. It's basically citric acid so it is a natural, safe product that is much stronger than vinegar without the smell. If it doesn't work on your brewer than you must've waited way too long to clean it. I live in an area with very hard water so I use these fairly regularly. Beware, it does eat through certain finishes so use it away from anything delicate or porous. Would work for other items like the dishwasher, too I'd imagine.
