Great idea, appealing recipes, but be forewarned! Jan 21, 2004
By debvh I am having at least as much fun playing with my daughter's new Easy-Bake oven as she is, but ugh, those nasty mixes! I couldn't wait to try out some real recipes, and the ones in this cute little cookbook are very appealing. I'm not much of a baker, but the tiny spoons included with the book made it easy to measure just the right amount of all the ingredients. Unfortunately, I found out the hard way that not all the recipes are sized just right for the pan, and cleaning out an Easy-Bake is not easy or fun at all. To her credit, the author responded to my email with a note that most of the recipes will fill more than one pan, and to fill each pan only halfway. In my opinion, that is the sort of information that belongs in the cookbook, but now that you have read it here, you can safely use the book. Good luck!

Fun to Make Sep 17, 2005

The recipe in this book are better than the ones that circulate
over the internet. A couple of the recipes didn't turn out as I would have liked and I had to adjust the ingredients. But overall the recipes are fun to make and taste pretty good.
The book comes with 3 measuring spoons a dash, smidgen, and pinch. For the other measurments you'll have to use your own
measuring spoons.
I would have liked to have seen pictures of the finished products. Children are picture oriented. I have been making the recipes and taking pictures of the finished results and adding them to the recipe pages. When my granddaughter wants to bake, she will be able to see what the finished result will be.
While making a recipes I would advise that you turn to the page you want (the book has a spiral binder which makes it convenient) then stick the book into a clear plastic food bag to keep the pages from becoming soiled. The pages are a very absorbant type of paper. By putting it into a plastic bag, you will be able to follow the recipe and avoid getting any of the food on the page .

No more mixes! Aug 07, 2005
By Mom moves fast We have tried about 6 recipes and like them all. The make ahead mixes are a great idea and delicious. As stated by others, be careful how much you put in the pan. The bread/cake recipes rise! Only fill about half way to avoid a mess when trying to remove the pan. If the baked bread/cake is higher than the pan, it will be scrapped off by the edges of the oven door.

Worth the investment Sep 11, 2004
By Parent of Two It did not take long to discover that the cookies, macaroni and pretzel mixes included with my son's Real Meal oven were a huge disappointment in terms of portion size and taste. We were glad my son also received Kristen Joyal's cookbook, because it has enabled us to make delicious and simple recipes. I especially appreciated the option of making baking mixes that can be stored and used later as needed! I would definitely recommend buying this cookbook instead of more Real Meal or Easy Bake food mixes.

Very useful, well written cookbook kids can read and use too Jan 10, 2004 We received a light bulb oven for Christmas and I had read these reviews about how great this book was. So Santa left this book too, and it has been so fun. My kids will eat anything that comes out of the oven, and they have fun mixing their own recipes and even their own dinners! I knew I didn't want to buy the very expensive mixes to go with the oven, and this book is definitely a "must have" for me.
